I have to wonder why she would feel the need to stay in a hotel for an event 30 minutes away. I suspect even if not intentionally perhaps she is wondering what might happen with the colleague. It could also be she wants to get really drunk and doesn't want to be seen like that or other reasons. At least she told you about the guy and has been honest as far as we know to now. You need to talk and set boundaries if necessary.
