So what was the solution? Honestly curious as I don't have kids and this is the sort of sh*t that makes me never want them ? I know kids are kids and they need to learn how the world works (like people aren't going to dumb down their abilities just because you're not as good as them, which I agree, is not a great lesson) but if she had said “suck it up- this is how life is”, chances are her daughter would have given up on art and music a long time ago. So what's the middle ground? Even if she kept at the hobbies, mom still probably would have had to dumb down her skills to make it easier for her daughter. Kids are sensitive and that impressionable part of them last FOREVER if they're not confident enough, which a lot of kids need to learn. Sounds like her daughter learned it and is hopefully much more proud of her skills now. But I agree maybe there was a better way of going about it… but I could not even begin to tell you what that was ? Someone who has successfully wrangled kids, please chime in.
