A Washington Post article reported that in 178 cases from 2019 to 2021, police responding to mental health calls, wellness checks or reported suicide threats killed the individuals they were called to assist. Obviously death is the most extreme instance, but absolutely police harass and assault mentally ill people, throw them in handcuffs as if they are criminals, etc. This is true for many people, and especially when they are Black. It even happened to a former friend of mine.
In general, I don't think this girl is going to kill herself regardless; she's threatening suicide for manipulation purposes. But it is valuable to note that calling the police on someone having a mental health crisis is not always the safest option, and I really hate that your comment was dismissed with such confidence.
