Right, I would break up with the mama's boy. When someone tells you who they are, believe them. When someone says you will never come first in their life – believe them. When someone says they will choose their mother and what she dictates over you – believe them. You know know where you stand in his life – nowhere near the top of his priorities, break up and pick a partner who will choose you.
That he even said that – it's just a nope. You love your parents as parents, you love your children as children. The love you have for a partner is way different. You are not so young that you shouldn't be thinking about a future. I believe a year is plenty of time to know if this is a potential life partner, or just someone you shared part of the journey with. .
Anyone who ends up with a mama's boy finds its really not a great relationship. He will pick mommy over his wife/partner/girlfriend when he should put the partner first in any confrontation or important decision.
I love my children, would jump through fire for them, but I would fight to the death for my husband. I loved and respected my parents but I would pick my husband first.
