Hey, hi! Nice to see there's other Latinos here. As far as I know, it's more of a Cinderella issue, his mum and youngest brother don't have jobs, he makes a living for his family because his mum has this “me debes la vida” mentality. I spoke to him briefly about the whole thing and he said he wants his family to be stable without him, but his mum doesn't want to let her primary source of income go. I guess that's that. I do think there's a bit of a masculinity issue because he's a bit uncomfortable when I offer help and always promises to pay back when he can although I've told him there's no need. We haven't really talked about it outside of short texts so I hope we can solve this soon.

Will all be wonderful, OP? As someone who suffers from crippling depression more often than I care to admit, if hubby is this severely depressed, there's got to be a metric shit ton of other stuff in your marriage that's been impacted.
Are you being forced to play the role of caretaker? Is there an equal distribution of the housework, bill payments, childcare, emotional/mental burden? Or are you stuck holding everything together while the house is burning down around you while you smile tightly and say everything is fine? Have you taken a close look at the kind of life you've always wanted, the kind of life you deserve, and then compared it to the life you have? If so, great! If not, maybe examine if you're compromising your dreams or holding onto a marriage that's not working out because of fear.
Divorce is really scary to face. I'm going through it now. At first, I thought I couldn't survive. But now I'm so glad not to be stuck in a marriage that's a sinking ship. Admittedly, with my depression, I was a big part of why it failed. Please don't be like my wife was and stay because of obligation or nostalgia. It leads to burnout and resentment.
