I will just say that I totally understand when something small tips you over the edge emotionally. It's usually when I'm already fatigued, and have other stressors/aggravating factors contributing to my downward spiral. However. This isn't something that should normally make a person very angry. He opened the can by accident, he tried his best to not waste food. Deviating from a dinner plan is not a big deal.
Say something like, “thank you for dinner. However I'm sorry but I'm not a fan of the mustard and cream of chicken.” Then order yourself some food or make something simple to eat.
