1. My boyfriend does the same thing to me. Except, I've known my boyfriend since highschool, now for a total of 7 years, and we started off as friends who allegedly had just a platonic relationship.

   Your boyfriend is comfortable and knows that he likes you, but he's not comfortable enough to give you a cheesey nickname so he's resorting to calling you broski, dude, bro, fam, and so on. Specifically, guys who use those nicknames generally imply that there's respect in the relation to who they're giving that nickname too. Sure, every guy can be a bro, but not all bros are homies, like you are to him.

   It's been 1.5 months. Give him some time to ease into changing the nicknames. He might even be thinking of something unique to call you other than generic common names like baby, love, honey, so on.

   My boyfriend and I are the same age as your boyfriend. Lemme tell you, my boyfriend likes to kiss my forehead after we do the deed to let me know that it was an intimate moment meant to be romantic, but within seconds he'll literally dap me up and go “Ayo gg bro, let's do it again later.” It's a little off putting, but I know he does it for the jokes.

   When I met my boyfriend in highschool, he referred to me as my first or last names. But eventually he gave me a nickname that nobody else used until after we broke up in 10th grade, and then gave me a new one after we got back together.

   If he's the one true love, he'll maybe want to make things memorable as possible for you, which includes strange behaviours like this. Generally speaking, guys who show the quirky side of themselves are showing that they're letting their guard down around you because he trusts you. If he trusts you, he'll do dumb things that you can literally use against him, but he trusts that you wouldn't. You're dear to him in a sense.

   Your boyfriend will ease up to give you a nickname, if not a common one until he can. You could try hinting at him by giving him names that aren't pet names.. like call him Stinky and see how he reacts, then give him a big whiff and tell him that you think he's stinky in a good way. Tease him and let him tease you back to see how far the nicknames can get.

   Remember, this is your boyfriend's way of endearment towards you. He sees you as his girlfriend, but also someone close enough to be trusted like a homie.

   I think that's one of the sweetest and purest relationships to have is when a boyfriend can treat his girlfriend like they're bestfriends instead of applying patriarchal approaches in the relationship (like women should have women friends and not be included in the men's hobbies, and women shouldn't be friends with men they should only be girlfriends/trophies to show off, etc.) Don't let the names ruin the relationship for you 🙂 You'll be okay. But definitely do talk about it if it does really bother you.

2. It's ridiculous that OP's friends act like this girl can't help what she says. She's been nothing but rude but finally when OP spoke up then she's just 'joking' and OP is taking it 'too seriously'.

   DARVO at its finest. Reversing the roles, making OP the bad guy for having healthy boundaries.

   OP does not need friends like that. This is the kind of friend that spreads rumors and talks shit. It would only get worse if OP apologized. OP needs to take a stand and purge this negativity and jealousy from her life.
