Being annoyed in this situation is normal but giving you the silent treatment is stupid and indicative of deeper issues.
You have said in the comments that you have an issue with drinking which you should definitely work on for yourself, but his response is worrisome.
Get better for yourself and have some standards regarding how you want to be treated. being concerned is good but plenty of people have forgotten to send messages indicating that they're fine and plenty of people have not received said messages until later.

Gender has nothing to do with it. It really comes down to maturity. There can be many, maaany reasons why they're keeping you at arms length. I can only speculate a dozen scenarios given the little amount of detail you've shared.
Either way, if you feel it's done then it's done. If he's not giving you the attention you're looking for, then go find someone that will.

Well, set up a timesheet ahead of time. Tell him you have an hourly rate to help him, and that as an employee, you expect to be paid for your time and effort. Not to be dramatic, but you are a victim of involuntary servitude. Its extremely illegal. Your boyfriend should be better than to treat you like his personal slave. If his side business is a hobby, or even if its his main source of income, then he needs to consider hiring employees, because not paying you is simply not going to fly. If you are simply going to be treated as a volunteer, then feel free to volunteer for a set number of hours (typically two to four hours per day) and let him work out his paid help for the rest. If he bombs the festival, it will be his own fault, for not hiring employees for the gig.
And arguments be damned. He isnt even willing to give you a way to be comfortable while you put money in his pockets. Its worth having a knock down , drag out fight over, figuratively speaking. It will be by the last day of the festival or a few days later, anyways.
Enforce your boundaries. You must not ever feel compelled to be his unpaid and unappreciated indentured servant of a laborer. You deserve to have an equality based, balanced relationsip.
