1. Your bil is still very dangerous. It's been two years and he still has no remorse for trying to kill you and his own father. Sure he's blood but that doesn't change anything and your wife probably needs therapy to deal with it since her parents seem happy to just brush everything under the rug.

If he's visiting town, what his mental state is, just to be safe. You and your wife should have a talk with your in-laws and state your boundaries. Yes, that is their son and it's not his fault that he is mentally ill, but they have to respect that you and your wife need to protect yourselves against someone who's clearly capable of killing someone.

   Christmas is a problem since he'll be there and the holidays might trigger him. Can you go away for Christmas?
