thank you, i'm actually considering just ghosting him but that would make him suspicious. i guess the best decision that i can make is phase him out slowly and leave him wondering where it all went wrong.
I’ve been in the same position, wasn’t until I was over the guy that I realised I should have left as soon as soon as I was telling myself “he didn’t cheat though” because THAT is the bare minimum in a relationship. Bare in mind though, this was only one girl that you actively checked the messages from. What’s in the messages between him and girls he knows you wouldn’t think to check? He knows you’re actively weary of her and he still was dumb enough to keep the messages. What’s in the ones he wouldn’t think you would check? Honestly, this will just be the tip of the iceberg, especially the way he was so blasé about it AND the fact she never even questioned it.
Just look at it like this, how does your future look with him? And I don’t mean near future, I mean can you envision marriage, kids and growing old with him now you know what you do? If not, he has to go as he has no benefit to your present self.
Good luck b and do some investigating lol sometimes it’s easier to move on when you have proof behind you and sometimes it’s easier if you just let it go and don’t go through the emotional damage proof can entail.
