The JET programme is quite literally my dream and the sole reason I got a degree, so I mean it when I say your wife is being an inconsiderate asshole.
I have 2 jobs and have set up my lease to be renewed in July, should I not be selected. Otherwise life carries on as normal.
Also, results are one out in like March; she's only going to find out if she made the interviews now in Jan. Does she have a plan B for if she's rejected? This is unfortunately one of the toughest programmes in the world and only a handful of people are selected annually, the consensus is to expect rejection and on-line your life normally until you are hopefully asked to drop everything and go. She may even make it as an alternate (someone they will call on if a space frees up) and if she thinks there's a possibility of that happening, she may drag her feet in resuming life in hopes that the call will one day come, until the next round of applications open, then rinse and repeat.
Tell her to get her shit together. I wish her the best but it seems like she's going to fall apart if she isn't accepted.
Went through something similar. It’s a pain like no other and I’m so sorry you went through this. You aren’t at fault for a damn thing. I am glad mom and bf kicked that POS out. As other commenters mentioned, definitely not the first time.
Trust and respect are two sides of the same coin. How can you look him in the eyes and respect in minute longer
