I do think it's a red flag that's he's boasting about his families connections and that they paid it off so that he wouldn't be be charged. That means he knows he has no consequences for his actions, and goes into conflict with that mindset. He will always come out on top.
Regardless of whether or not he is aggressive towards you right now, if that's how he handles his problems, I would expect the same from him in relationship conflicts as well. Guys like this always seem nice and fine until the moment they're not. Some of them manage to fake it all the way until marriage, and then you're trapped.
You need to ask him does he also not believe in divorce? Or birth control? Where is his line? And what if he changes those as well. You should halt the wedding until you are both happy about those boundaries. Or it could get pretty ugly. Specially if he does not “believe” in divorce or birth control suddenly
I buy my boyfriend stuff all throughout the year, and I hate the pressure of buying just for holidays but he still wants to make a big deal of it, so I try to. OP just needs to make sure they are on the same page.
