Could be family or friend trying to prevent you all from marrying. Maybe in her twisted way she is trying to keep that familial relationship intact by not telling you where she heard it. She’s not taking into account that it’s hurting your relationship with her in the mean time.
If you love her let her know that while she’s trying to prevent an argument between you and a family/friend member, your trying to prevent losing trust in her ability to be truthful to you and put you first. You can’t fix it if she won’t tell you who it is. If she does spill the beans, call that person with her present and ask why on speakerphone. I wouldn’t even say she’s present but I would want her there to hear them deny or say why they said it.
You need to talk to her!!!! If she can’t be honest with you above everyone else you won’t be able to have a long term relationship together. She needs to see that your relationship comes first and should be protected at all cost. If someone is trying to cause drama like this she should absolutely come and tell you who it is. Maybe it’s someone super close to you and she’s afraid to break up a relationship. She really needs to see that whatever this person is saying is working to destroy y’all. You may not have a kid but now this person has her wondering/scared your lying and you upset because she won’t say whose planting this story. Whoever it is is winning because she’s too nice and scared to reveal what’s/who’s saying it.
You should look for other red flags in this relationship. I guarantee they’re there.
