Five months is insufficient time for a person to truly determine whether their partner is truly the one. Do not rush into marriage.
I have a 2 yr old golden retriever. What's worked well is keeping her on a short house leash and keeping her restricted to a small area within the house until she earns her freedom by not being destructive. We were able to use the leash to quickly correct her when she started chewing something she shouldn't. We did from when she was a puppy until about 10 months old. Before that, she was always either supervised, crated or gated in a puppy proofed area. We also used bitter apple spray to discourage her from chewing on things like table legs, which she loved.
Having said that, accidents happen with dogs!! Even though she is trained now, we still make an effort not to leave stuff on the floor. It's part and parcel of having a dog, and goldens are a mouthy breed…
I really empathize with you ♥️ Having an anxiety disorder has changed my life, limited my opportunities, shown me who I can count on and who was simply along for the sunny parts of the adventure… It can feel like a betrayal, realizing someone you’d do anything for won’t do anything for you, but, your husband deserves the chance to pursue the future he wants. You know he dreams of someday exploring the world with his family. It’s unfair to expect him to sacrifice that. I think communication is the solution. You’ve got to be incredibly honest and realistic with each other about where to go from here. Regardless of what comes next, you’re going to be okay. Lean into your support, be it family, friends, counselors… you’re going to come out on top in the end, because you’re going to be closer to the future that is meant for you.
