1. I don’t want to be harsh, but . . .

   There is no good way to be broken up with. By conventional standards he did things right. He was never cruel to you or argumentative. He told you in person. He gave you reasons which did not involve you. He treated you nice til the end and was respectful.

   It is super frustrating not knowing exactly why he broke up with you/why long distance dating or you moving was not his preferred option. But you’re never going to find out and you have to reconcile yourself to that as you grieve the relationship.

   6 months in is when many people assess their relationship for permanency; i.e. it’s a natural time to decide whether this is someon let you want you spend the rest of your life with. And sometime the answer is no, even with people you get along with. That’s probably what happened here.

   You didn’t do anything wrong. You can’t change his mind.

   If he does have reasons – he wants a fresh start with his move or he found someone he likes better or your chewing triggers his misophonia or he wants to explore being with guys or he wanted a partner with the same income level or you just had disparate interests – you’ll never know and you have to accept that.

2. No fault divorce is irrelevant. If you leave you are abandoning your kids and she can get full custody.
