My advice is to walk away because after 8 years he should know whether you are the one, issues or not. Stand your ground, I smoked for 25 years and quit after I experienced death (not a euphemism I was dead for more than 6 minutes) and the doctor told me smoking could lead to a stroke, I had a friend who had a stroke as a young man and never recovered properly. I then quit with stop smoking aids within 2 months and have been smoke free for more than 10 years.
