It is more complicated than that. I knew the other person for awhile before we started dating yes. There were some elements of emotional cheating before we actually met, which I admitted to my boyfriend, but this other person supported me through a time when I hadn't got over what my partner had done to me some time before (cheated/lied). It was messy.
But I guess his mum could see it as completely all me and I understand why she does. I worry that it will be hot to face in the future.
