It’s important for you to show empathy towards your fiancée, but it’s equally important that your fiancée exercise empathy towards you. Unilaterally deciding that an extremely problematic and destructive third-party is going to take up residence in your new house is not OK. I think a fair compromise would be moving her mother nearby, but not into the house. If your fiancée digs her heels in, well, do you really want to start living the “for worse” part of “for better or for worse“ before you even tie the knot?
