Cheating, besides someone having a sexual addiction for example, is a sign that the relationship is not going great. So, if he has learned his lesson he will end his future relationships that are not going great, before being unfaithful.
Lastly, about that logic. If someone gets jailed for robbing a store, they served their time in prison and come out back into society. We trust that they have learned their lesson and won't reoffend again. It's not “once a robber, always a robber”, is it?
