Not exactly. Knowingly passing an STD has always been illegal, California removed the additional felony that applied only to HIV because, as it turns out, when the law is worded as “knowingly transmits” it makes testing rates plummet because “I didn’t know, so it doesn’t count.”
It’s still illegal and has been, there’s just one fewer anti-LGBT law on the books.
I mean the only time when someone had a problem with it was my ex, who was an abusive person in many other ways. No one else, boyfriend or not, said something. That’s why I’m wondering why he would even mention that. So yeah.
