Thank you, I feel like you understand where I'm coming from with this. I never react when my son has small bumps or anything and just calmly observe, oh you fell. Or ask are you okay? Then move on.
This is when he is actually hurt and has a huge red mark on his face from the door. And no sympathy or asking if he's okay by my husband after the laugh.
I really don't agree with that message on any level. It makes me see red in the moment and I feel helpless too. You're probably right that leaving is extreme and I do love him and don't want to leave but I also would sacrifice anything to protect my kids. How can I make him understand that this is really not something I'm going to compromise on?
Have that conversation with him and let him know you want to pump the brakes till graduation and your mom's health settles out.
