i say cut the cord early before you regret it later, bc will you take “sarcasm” as an excuse next time?
My husband and I have a 9 year age gap and it works well for us. We hardly notice it.
But the difference: we started dating when I was 25, he was 33 going on 34. We both were finished with school, years into our careers, and in the same stage of life.
We comment often that we wish we had found each other earlier, but we also recognize that any earlier and I would have just been too young. Not just physically, but also mentally and emotionally. I wasn’t in the same stage of life as him. And I wasn’t the same person. My 20 year old self is vastly different than my now 27 year old self.
I am not saying it cannot work. But it is something to consider. You will find major differences in where you are mentally and in life than this person.
If you choose to move forward, I want to echo the red flags others bring up. Does he use his age to belittle or control you? Does he use his age to win arguments, or use his life experience to act superior? Has he been able to date women his age (or at least close enough)? Furthermore, where does he want to be in five years? Heck, where does he want to be in 1 year? Because he’s older he may be ready to move forward in the relationship more quickly than you, including potentially marriage and children.
I wish you all the best, no matter your decision. Listen to that little voice in your head. If it’s setting off alarm bells, I suggest listening.
