My oldest brother, the one who got worse, is married. She's pretty meek and doesn't really stand up to him, so he talks to her however he wants. My mom has had to comfort her I don't know how many times because of how he acts (and she always goes to my mom, because she's scared to tell her parents what my brother is like). We've told her we would support her if she left him, and we try to get him to back off when we're around, but she's pretty religious and doesn't consider divorce an option.
My other brother has a serious girlfriend. I consider her to be the biggest factor in his improvement; she made it clear that she was not going to tolerate him treating her badly and that if he didn't get his anger in check, she was leaving. He's still not perfect, but he's working on it and I'm proud of the progress he's made. They're thinking about marriage.
