Two shitty guys is not a good sample size for determining whether any man will like you. Attraction varies from person to person. You had bad luck with those two, but it doesn't mean you're unattractive, just not their particular cup of tea.
Rejection sucks, but it's part and parcel with dating. You will experience rejection. You will also reject some people.
If you stop dating because of those two assholes, you'll create a self fulfilling prophecy and prevent yourself from meeting someone who does find you attractive. Go on the date because meeting people is how you're going to meet the ones who think you're awesome and beautiful.
Not having connection with your spouse is how affairs and divorces happen. You have moved to a new city for her sake, I don't think you are victimising yourself. You should insist on her having significantly deeper connection with you then other people. Most important thing is time and energy.
Time is tricky, you shouldn't treat you spend in the place as “your time”, when you are doing chores rezt without interacting or taking care for children etc. You should dustinguish time reserved for you to having time you are actively choosing to spend on each other not children or other people/responsibilities. Needless to say both you need to be able to commit both time and energy for that. Perhaps money as well to hire caretaker so you can go on dates once or best twice a week.
As for effort. If she is splurging her emotions and thoughts to him she will feel it a chore to do it again to you. Tell her that you are fine with them talking, but you don't want her to satisfy her emotional needs with him instead of you. The same of course go the other way abd she should be there fir you as well.
So he gets the “he's a kid” excuse huh? She's also a kid and doing more than what is needed to make him feel good, but he gets excused cos he's a kid?
