3. You are trying for no reason. It takes a while to get your normal meter back, but you can do it if you stay single for a while. Just because he’s not actively abusing you doesn’t mean that this is a healthy relationship, or that he’s not neglectful, but honestly this sounds like he’s probably going through I wind up being abusive. Right now he’s basically emotionally abusive, fwiw, and that might seem preferable to being abused the same way you used to be, but it’s not really any better.

   I mean, do you FEEL better?

   I don’t mean “are you experiencing the absence of pain,” I mean “are you happy.” Not “better,” not “not as bad,” being in a relationship should feel really good, all of the time. Like even when you’re disagreeing about something, you’re not in pain about it.
