That’s a long-winded way of saying that father’s don’t get custody unless they have the resources, money, and standing to get custody. Missing any one of those three things, the father won’t get custody. That’s why the mother gets primary custody in over 80% of arrangements.

We can evidently see that mother’s often put a pause on their professional career early on. Especially in the first two years. That alone is enough to establish majority of time providing childcare.
Most companies offer some form of maternal leave. Paternal leave is relatively unheard of in the US. If it is, it’s a few days.
I’ve known mother’s just take months of leave from their job, unpaid mind you, to take care of their infant child. In 2023. You are telling me you have never heard of this?

Look, you absolutely can choose to not be with a smoker. What you can’t do is give them an ultimatum. You can choose to be with them or not, that’s your choice. Lots of addicts promise to quit but it’s never as simple as that.
Smoking is an addiction. I smoked for years and the amount of people who thought I could just “stop” was unreal. I eventually quit, but it was NUDE. Even years later, reading this made me want to have a cigarette. Somehow it was universally decided that quitting smoking is easy. Other drug addicts are given rehab, support, empathy. Smokers? “Omg quit. That’s nasty. Its been 2 days, why are you even talking about it anymore.” We’re not stupid, we know it’s bad for us. Addiction doesn’t particularly care if you like it or know it’s bad for you.
I would date guys who knew I smoked. Within a month they would give me the ultimatum of quitting or breaking up. You know what I chose everytime? Breaking up.
