1. People do not prefer virtual interaction. It's just that the complete breakdown of our society's sense of community has forced it. Because people don't know how to get out there and can't take rejection, so they hide behind screens. And then get mad when they can't meet any quality people.

   The problem with online dating is that people think it can speed up or improve the process of finding love, when the truth is, finding someone who is compatible is just as difficult as ever. In real life, we meet hundreds of people over the years who are potentially viable suitors (right gender, age, similar circles, etc) through work, school, random interactions, friends and family, etc. but maybe only a handful of those suitors one will have a romantic interest in. Except you know that right away when meeting them that they are not right because you can tell a lot from first impressions and body language. I don't know why people think online dating is any different. We unconsciously screen through tons of suitors as we go about our lives, but then people get live! and are shocked to find hundreds of people they aren't interested in and you have to wade through the crud there too.
