  1. You can check downloaded and deleted apps in the AppStore if you want to see if she was actually on them

  2. I think professional help here is required and maybe he latched onto something that brought him comfort in quitting but he took it too literally.

As a non- professional but a person that quit drinking a year ago, there was apprehension in the beginning for me to do things sober like videogames for an example. I always drank when I gamed. Will it still be fun? Or will I just be dying for a drink the whole time? And I had to try it and figure it out. Turns out videogames are fun and engaging and totally cool sober too. But it was sorta scary to go there the first time and see what feelings and cravings come up.

But that's not to say I still LOVE everything I did before. Some things you keep and some things you toss. And in doing so gradually over the year I've had room to pick up new hobbies and new friends.

I don't think the answer is eliminating more things in his life and I don't think from the beginning it should have included you stopping anything. I think the answer is him moving into a braver phase of recovery and trying things and eliminating what sucks, maybe reintegrating some things back that are still good and finding new fun stuff.

But I'm not a doctor obviously! Just my opinion. 🙂

  3. May I suggest not to tell him you’re leaving until you have a plan and a place to go? A controlling man can be dangerous when he learns he no longer has control over you. See a lawyer first and make a plan.

  4. It’s likely easier for him to consume that kind of media because he’s so far removed from it – he can compartmentalize and pretend that racism is just a thing that happens somewhere else. When confronted with it right in front of his face, with a living, breathing person, he can’t pretend anymore.
