Just curious OP, did your boyfriend hug other women ?
Early in my adult life, I lived with a woman who had survived a lot of childhood SA. Every once in a while she would just come out and say something random, deflating and nasty, (about/towards me) oftentimes within a group setting. Othertimes she would be like 'if you ever left me, I would die.' These are extreme examples in what was a fairly long relationship. I broke up with her, but still loved her. Years later, still both single, I took time from work (weeks) to go across country and try to rekindle things, as we'd reconnected live!. (We both wanted this.) While there, she made two of these types of comments. One where she misrepresented the truth of how our relationship started, which made me sound like a controlling grifter, and another where she said she'd thought I had a lot more money than I did. (?) The things that were red flags yet somewhat infrequent years earlier were by then basically her default personality. I recalled then why I'd broken up with her in the first place, and learned to trust my past self more when it came to romanticizing previous relationships. I also concluded that some people's abuse is simply too much to really overcome, which is tragic.
