Your girlfriend is showing her selfish true colours here. You don't control who gets interviewed. If my SO and I applied for the same job, and they got interviewed over me, I'd be proud of my SO, not bitterly blaming them for my inadequacies and misfortune. What makes someone more qualified to be a RA? Isn't that just basically anyone semi responsible?
Besides, she's got nobody to blame but herself, if she really wanted the job she'd have put more time and effort into the application rather than submitting it the first possible day.

what you should do is stop using absolutes when talking about things as it isn't reality (i.e always and never)..if it is reality, then move on cuz it wont change.
