I think this person is really being too harsh on you. Baking cookies has nothing to do with why the kids decide to stay with their moms or not. They want to stay with mom cuz they get to have more fun with their cousins and big family period. This makes me so happy I left my ex of 16 years because that was literally him, jobless, mental health issues, took up alcohol (and coke), became extremely mentally and emotionally abusive, but not physically.

OP has not said whether gf asked the guy she slept with if he thought it would be okay. Why would she assume the other guy would be okay with that? It kind of makes me wonder about the nature of the sex that she had with the other guy before she got back to OP.
Also, I think she should ask the question because there is a chance she is still in communication with the other guy (as in, once again, why would she think this would be okay with the other guy?)
