Don't. Involve a lawyer now and protect your children's future. It's outrageous of him to push for this. You need to ensure things are in place asap lest anything happens to you and he's left in charge without a will.
You’re under no obligation to give him a second chance. However, he did tell you about it after it happened, which is a good sign. The fact that he waited until the next day to tell you is NOT a big deal. He basically told you right after it happened, not weeks, months, or years later. Heres my recommendation- pack up everything that is needed like personal documents & pack a bag… anything that you can’t replace like photos take those with you. Everything else leave behind because it can be replaced. & it may even be cathartic to replace something later on.
Seek shelter at a friend or families home. If you need too seek out help from a women’s shelter. You can usually find from local housing departments.
Find a lawyer & file for divorce. Some states give you priority over the filing if you do this! Take advantage whatever advantage there is to file for divorce first.
Be ready to be further abused &/or love bombed into staying. Don’t fall for anything. If you need to have everything done in writing via email- so you can save all correspondence. You might need someone else to help you respond appropriately. That’s ok too! Sometimes you need a good friend to remind you of cutting your losses. Some lawyers work on a sliding scale too.
