OP, my ex genuinely thought I should also work like a dog for him for free. And not even expect a bottle of water, or a nice dinner as a thank you. He also characterized it as “supporting his dream”. A dream that made him money. And paid for nice things for him. He also plowed earnings back into the business, but then later spent the profits on nice electronics and clothing for himself. He truly did not stop to think of me at all, other than to expect me to put his interests before my own.
Sit back and ask yourself: would you ever expect someone to take PTO, work 12 hours/day in a miserable, hot food truck for you and not pay them?
Of course not. It’s exploitative. It’s an extraordinary sense of entitlement to your labor and support.
