It's normal to send US money to family in other countries, the dollar can go pretty far in some places. Culturally; family can be very strong and they'll often do a lot to help each other out, but to us it looks like being taken advantage of because most of us don't have that intense family bond.

Take her to see a psychiatrist. Not a general doctor but a psychiatrist whose specialty is dealing with mental health issues. It sounds like PPD to me.
