I notice a lot of passivity in your language here. You don’t own any of your choices—and they are choices you’ve made. A series of them that led to this result. You lost your friends because of your choices. Your best option is to find some kind of therapy (or a free support group, like Al Anon) and filling up the void your life this loss has created.
There are certainly valid points about keeping it from some families, I'll grant, but this is about friends as well.
If someone is actively keeping me separate from ALL the people in their life, it's about more than a bad relationship with your parents. It reflects on the relationship.
Some people might be fine to keep the whole thing on the dl, but ultimately I'm looking for a partner who incorporates me into their life, not conceals me from it. I think most people are that way.
I cough so hot I throw up. It's like my body thinks it's the only way to stop the coughing so I can breathe again. It's super weird and embarrassing. However I don't do it to get attention or to get out of fight. I only do it when it's cold, I've been running, or laughing too hot. So its weird that that's the only time your wife does it.
You know her better than us, if she doesn't have asthma or something then maybe she is doing it to manipulate you?
