I'm not seeing the justification against a firearm here, if the only argument is “more dangerous”, without considering that using one is a last resort option, but it should always remain an option when you're legally allowed to protect yourself and your household.
People facing an intruder do not have the luxury to take the time to figure out the criminal's intent or if they're armed. There's no logical reason in the argument – no, opinion- you present here.

Ultrasound techs often use gendered pronouns on accident.
For my first pregnancy, the tech said she at one point, but I had a son. Weirdly enough the same thing happened for my second pregnancy, the tech said he, then profusely apologized and swore she hadn't even looked at the genitals yet, and then 4.5 months later I had a daughter. So unless you confirmed the gender with the ultrasound tech, likely the pronoun they used was an accident and not an indication of the baby's gender.
Well, you now know he has shit ethics. That will probably come back to burn you at some point if you stick around, yes.
