So I am a Brit married to an American and I can confidently say we’ve had our far share of correcting each other pronunciations on things or questioning the meaning of the word each other might be saying. Like in England when we say a house is cozy we say “homely” but in the US homely means you’re calling someone ugly. But honestly it’s really not that big of deal to me at the end of the day, we might get a little heated when debating a word or meaning but a quick google search shuts it down and we move on with our day both with new knowledge of each others worlds.
But for the most part we just take the mick out of each other for saying thing’s differently, like yoghurt, I always love to repeat my husband saying that in his accent. Your boyfriend just needs to accept that we say certain words differently in the U.K. or have a different meaning. If he can’t then maybe he’s better off dating another American but wait maybe that wouldn’t even work because what if it’s a girl from a different state who has different words for different things then he won’t know what to do
