Unless the relationship is professional or with your tutor I can't see why it would matter.
why can’t you sit down with your dad and tell him the tentative plans you guys have—moving in together, finishing school/getting a job, then getting engaged and married. Why does it have to be him sitting down with your dad?
Your boyfriend is being respectful to you, his values, and your relationship by not doing this. Your dad is not a member of this relationship, there is no reason for your boyfriend to sit him down and give him an update on your relationship. If it’s something you want, you can sit with your dad and talk about it. Don’t ask your boyfriend to do this if he doesn’t want to.
I get that it’s traditional but your boyfriend does not need to ask your father permission, nor does he owe him any kind of talk about his intentions. You’re happy with your boyfriend and it is your decision to move in with him or not.
Will your dad require permission for other things? Will you and your boyfriend need to get his input on all major life events? Moving in together, getting engaged, buying a house, having kids, changing careers, moving house… where will it end? It’s ridiculous. You’re not property, your dad should not have a say in if you move in with your boyfriend.
What should happen is you sit your parents down and explain that you love your boyfriend and see a future with him. That you will be moving in together and you respect your parents enough to tell them yourself. That you hope they will be happy for you and this new chapter in your life. But, that you are not asking for their permission. You are telling them about a choice you have made.
You’re an adult, you don’t need their permission and if that’s something that will upset them you need to decide if you’re willing to live! behind the curtain of your parents making decisions for you for the rest of your life.
If he left and no context of what happened then I'm going to assume it was you who started the physical fight.
If he left and cold and distant. Points straight to you as the problem
