Look: clearly you're not handling things well (or not nearly as well as you believe you are) and it is adversely impacting your relationship with your wife and family. She wouldn't suggest it if everything was fine and you were successfully hiding things.
There is no shame in seeking help. A therapist can give you tools to better manage what is going on and a new, neutral perspective on your situation that you simply don't see. There is no shame in taking medication if it helps, which it does for a great number of people, but not all therapists give it as a blanket recommendation.
