  1. That doesn't sound normal. Partner and I like taking showers before getting intimate, so maybe you could suggest a shower together with a future sexual partner?

  2. This isn't him being possessive at all. This is him being monogamous. Which is normal. People have different views of relationships than polygamy.

Respectfully, stop trying to vilify monogamy by calling it “possesiveness.” You could just as easily flip the genders around in this situation and get the same damn thing.

  3. What a creepy creepy gross misogynistic dude. No wonder his ex left him .

You deserve so much better. He just told you he doesn't give a shit about you, he married to get a free live! in housemaid and one he feels very moluch above and is therefore free to abuse at will.

Get an annulment if it's not too late. Or get a divorce and celebrate it next year with having an actually joyful Christmas where you do things for yourself, not a nasty creepy guy.

  4. u/brokeassrigwelda, it looks like you're trying to post a throwaway submission. Your account is too young and/or your comment karma is too low.

  5. I think that your partner doesn’t seem to understand you very well was evident in their proposal and I can see why this is worrying for you.

At minimum it shows you both need to learn how to communicate clearly and effectively with each other. If despite your best efforts to clearly explain your needs and wishes they refuse to meet them- don’t rush into marriage.

My first fiancé was a really bad listener. I felt like he didn’t care what J actually wanted he was goin to give me what he thought I should want. I wasn’t assertive enough but in the end I lost respect for him, so it wasn’t going to work out anyway. My next relationship I was determined to be clear and assertive and not tolerate being pushed into pretending to be who they wanted me to be. That worked really well. We just celebrated our 33rd anniversary and are still happy together. I’m not autistic, but turns out he is. Me being willing to be blunt all these years was probably really helpful for him (and us).

  6. Your boyfriend doesn't want to marry you. He's willing to go through with it, if you pay for it; because he doesn't want to lose the life you've provided him. If you are set on going through with this, get a prenuptial agreement and keep your finances separate, including any properties you purchase in the future.

  7. Was she like this when you first got together or dud it just start happening after the marriage? Hopefully you don't have any children with this woman. Her and her mom sound exhausting. I'd cancel the ticket and file for divorce. Putting up with that every day sounds dreadful. It doesn't sound like she'll ever change.

So lets take it back a couple, we have had issues in the past on syncing our love languages. About a month ago we got into a huge fight that ended in her going to stay with her mom for a week almost. We talked and told each other what we needed and things have been going great! I started going to do more things with her like painting, going to casino, movies, dinner… etcThe past 3 weeks I have been working 4×10 shifts instead of 5×8 shifts cause of the holidays and im not a contractor so i dont get holidays paid off. I volunteered cause we need the money for bills. Well 96 hours ago i came home 3 hours into my shift to drop something off that she needed and give her a hug and she says i smell like perfume. I said im sorry i didnt know why i smelled like that and gave her a couple reasonings. She slept in our room mates (20F her best friend) room thst night. She ignored me all day. Next day i tried talking to her she blew up and freaked out cause apparently i made her feel crazy for thinking i was cheating on her. Her reasonings for thinking im cheating. 1. I been working late. 2. i been staying late 3. I have to travel to different hospitals for work and there are female nurses there. She is stuck on this idea of me cheating on her. Ignored me for 72 hours and i told her if she left for national guard this weekend without talking i would give her papers. So I printed out the papers to petition to just see if she would try to stop me and see if she cares about it, she just looked at it and walked to the car after i walked away and got into my buddies car and drove off. She hasnt came back from guard so still havent talked. I just dont know what to do anymore. I feel as if she almost projecting and deflecting. Im always made out to be the bad guy and I have to change and she never does. I think this the end. So much for our almost 2 year marriage and 3 year relationship.

  9. This doesn't go as far as emotional abuse, quite, but it has some similarities psychologically.

    Rats in a cage experiment.

If rats push lever, they get food. They learn to push the lever. Turn the food off, they very quickly learn to stop pushing the lever.

Now make it so it's every 3 times you push lever, you get food. Rats are slower to learn it, but when you turn off the food, they're just as quick to unlearn it.

Now make it so it's random: could be 1 time, 3 times, 5 times, 10 times, 20 times, and the food comes out at random. This is much slower to learn, but, almost impossible to unlearn. Rats will continue to push the lever even after you turned the food off, even though they've pushed it 100 times and food hasn't come out.

This is what happens in relationships and what I think of every time someone says “when it's good it's great.” That's the random-lever-reward in effect. It's what makes it so hard to let go.

  10. I always think it’s a bad choice to combine finances unless you’re married and even then I’d still advise having separate accounts and one for joint expenses.

  11. You made several assumptions of things that he is not doing. What is he is paying for her groceries some times? And her gas? And dates? And whatever else. That's why I asked where else is she benefiting.

The thing is, he can be helping her the best way he knows how and still do what he want with his finances. He doesn't owe her every dollar before considers spending it elsewhere.

  12. Lol, I thought he was just using the term friend instead of FWB or something until I got to the end. I mean, I’ll get the bill for dinner or drink with platonic friends, but we aren’t going to Paris and certainly not centering the trip around her individually.

Jesus, what a weird feeling to be a woman in that position. I can’t imagine.

  13. They always go.. it's hard to throw away a relationship I've been in for so long…

I never get it. Like why?! Uve been in it for 4 years and it's not going well..

    Why waste 4 more years?!

  14. I completely agree on the part about me talking to my therapist about that, and I have theirs nothing wrong about wanting to be shown off by your partner my therapist has agreed with me on that part and has expressed that I should communicate more with him on that aspect.

Which i will talk to him once he gets home from work and see how we can work it out without making rash decisions quickly like that. I just wanted a different perspective.

  15. My ex bf spat of me once, no need to say that was obviously not the only abusive thing he did. I didn't left at that moment but I sure as hell end up leaving. Drop the toxic asshole.

  16. I don’t think it’d be this tbh, obviously not impossible but unlikely given if the bf was cheating and getting golden showers you’d have to assume he’d be careful to clean himself and get rid of the smell.

  17. How would other people feel if they didn’t want to be with someone and they were watching videos like that

  18. The problem is that she doesn’t like that lifestyle. She doesn’t like me being out of the house a few times a month to make a living as a musician. She doesn’t like me being around strangers, or being surrounded by environments with alcohol. She needs a partner who is at home with her 24-7

Lol, so wyd with this waste of time?
