Generation wealth, on both sides of your family, is the type of shit that can get you kidnapped for ransom and tortured. He has probably seen those things happen to people he knows personally. Based on the way he acts it was probably someone very close to him. This is not an outrageous request. Especially from someone that is being super generous with you!
