As a girl I would prefer that my date would pay on the first date. To me it shows they are serious and excited to be with me, not treating it like a business meeting, not like just two buddies hanging out. It shows they are financially comfortable and want to provide for me. However in these scenarios I was the one being asked out, I let them pick the place and I would always thank them for paying. I would also always offer to pay and take out my wallet just in case, however I almost never ended up being the one paying.
My friend is the exact opposite as in she always makes it clear to the date that she wants the bill split and if her date offers to pay for everything she insists on sharing costs. She doesn’t feel comfortable with it because she wants to feel like they are in full agreement and collaboration with everything including contributing the exact same amount of effort and money, so everything should be split 50/50.
Considering she asked you out and picked the place but also expects you to pay, that feels very entitled. It doesn’t mean she’s treating you like a meal ticket, especially since she’s compromising with rides instead, but it’s exactly as you said; this is a sign of her expectations with you.

You are already checked out of the relationship if you are falling in love with someone else. So much as we’ll end things so you can be with the other guy.
My advice: if you aren’t okay with it now, you won’t be okay with it 2, 5, 10 years from now either. It will turn into resentment.
My last serious relationship was one where we lived together for the most part, I'm good with taking things slow and getting to know her better because when we do see each other sparks fly my last relationship had to much drama involved and I was looking for suggestions to keep the chemistry going while taking things slow, I guess I could work more or try visiting an old buddy
