I forget the proper term but cults have a recruitment tactic called honeypotting/trapping (I'm not sure of hand what the exact term is at the moment). With the sudden reintroduction of god into his life, so soon in this relationship and you getting absolutely schooled on religion, it's raising some flags in my mind. You're also into some spiritual practices already, which in those circles can have you coded as an easy target. I'm not saying I'm right, but this is worth a moment of consideration.
