Stay home, do the nursing curriculum. With that background, you can make pretty decent money. Then go abroad (not needing any financial support from mom and dad) and work as a nurse while you do med school.
Nursing training is not really wasted time. It will make you a more sensitive and holistic doctor. It is valuable in itself.
