To me, it screams depression. Is he on meds already? Also ADHD symptoms gets worse with depression. He needs to take meds for that too. Life changing! Encourage for seeking treatment. It's helpful for him to know he must be the one in charge of getting his health, meds do really help and then there will be possibility for him to seek employment, whether a handy job ( it helps with depression) for a while or any simple job that he can show up, interact with ppl and earn some money, it will help him both mentally and financially. When he feels ready, he can come up with other future plans, regarding his health and finances. But you can encourage him to start small. If he did lost all his money, he probably feels shame too
