wow, that sounds exactly like what is happening. and I don't think I need him in my life, so I need to just keep avoiding. maybe he'll get bored and move on. but honestly even if i did ask him, I just feel like he wouldn't give me a straight answer. how he's acting makes me think he's very fake and just not a sincere person who is going to be straight with me. he's already lied about what happened between us, so I just don't anticipate he'd give me an honest, sincere explanation if I were to talk to him. it'd probably be just more of the same.
