But to him as a loving partner which it seems he is, he wants to hold you and kiss you to let you know he is there for you and everything will be ok as a protector and caring partner. Try talking to him to understand that in that moment you need to be left alone and need time to calm down and thank him for caring for you but give you some alone time.
