Given his various stances I kinda feel like this is a bad situation waiting to happen. Condoms don't fuck with anyone's hormones….so it's obvious what the plan forward should be. A full proof method of birth control is abstinence, which should probably be your fall back if condoms are vetoed by your partner.
Given your current birth control you really should nail down, explicitly, what he his position would be if you get pregnant. Maybe start saving up the $800 it will cost, assuming it's still legal where you are, to make that potential bad situation less painful.

Talk to him. Ask him what he would like more of or what he feels is missing. Also you could ask if there is something you are doing he specifically doesn’t like or wants you to stop. Don’t do this during or right before or right after sex. Do it in a neutral moment and make sure to be open and make it more of a discussion about how to make each other happy and not about who is doing what wrong. Hold him to that in what he says as well. I don’t think what he told you is necessarily bad, as I’m sure once you get more feedback it is something you can address and learn from. But how he told you is poor.
