They were a bit OTT, but they aren't wrong about that being coercing/pressuring. That won't help, and it will make it worse.
I do the same thing with my partner and can even reduce physical affection when my libido is low. My reason is that my partner can often take the affection as approval for them trying to grab me/turn me on. It just puts me off more. Its “safer” to avoid affection. It can begin to feel like the affection is going to lead to them pressuring me.
And yes, it's pretty much always stress that causes this for me, it happens. My sex drive is heavily intertwined with my mood.
