I actually dont want to get my borther’s affair baby and the same christmas present, causing major tention. Advice?
Background: I have a youthful brother and 6 years back he got his gf pregnant and they had our niece(6F). My family and I approved all of them with open arms and made them a part of the family. However 2 years in, my mate cheated and had an matter baby(4M) with his now spouse.
He left their previous gf and girl and essentially started more than with his new family. His previous GF passed away following the fallout and I took in my niece. I have been LC with my brother since he chose to abandon his daughter.
This brings us to now. For the last 3 years or so, I possess become pretty successful within my field and so for birthdays and christmas I go all out on presents to get my niece and little cousins. This year, my brother amazed us that him and his family would be joining take a look at my parents house for christmas(first time since he obtained married). My mom texted me asking what I would be getting my nephew for xmas and I said I had no intention of getting my brother or his affair family anything. My mom said while the lady understood not getting my brother and his wife anything, it would look bad if their son wasn' t included as he was still my nephew. As a compromise I actually told her I would get your pet something small(~$20) but there would be no way I would get the same gift as the other kids(~$250). While still sad, my friend agreed, until my brother somehow got word. He started coming up my phone, demanding answers to why his son who' s an innocent child would be left out on christmas. I responded that it would be nothing when compared with how he abandoned their daughter when he made a decision to be a cheating dirtbag.
My mom has been trying to enjoy mediator, while my brother and his wife have been blowing up my phone. My dad provides my ba k when he says its the result of the brother' s own activities. Im a bit stuck here as while I want absolutely nothing to do with my brother and his household, I still want a good christmas for everyone else. Any kind of advice?
